HOLLY ROBERTS of Colwyn Bay Athletic Club got off to a good start in the North Wales Cross-Country League.
The under-17 athlete finished a provisional 13th in the senior women's race in the opening fixture of the league at Alun School in Mold on Saturday.
With the women's race run alongside the U17 men's race, once results are adjusted that should translate to a top-10 finish for Roberts.
There was also an impressive performance from another of the club's young athletes in the men's race, with U20 runner Sam Johnson finishing 16th.
He was followed by club-mates Steve Eardley (44th) and Russ Godwin (69th)
It will be Colwyn Bay's turn to host the next round of league races, taking place at St David's College in Llandudno on Saturday, November 5.
The remaining league fixtures will be in Bangor (November 26), Shrewsbury (January 14) and Oswestry (February 4).
Colwyn Bay's cross-country will be in action next in the second round of the North Staffordshire Cross-Country League, at Park Hall Country Park in Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday, October 29.
