Club Stalwart selected to represent Wales

A Huge congratulations to Alfie, who has been selected to represent Wales in the Mini Marathon on the 1st October.

Alfie has been selected to represent Wales in the U15 boys age group after a track and field season which has seen Alfie, in his first year in the U15 age group, break the club record for the 3000m several times and his times have him ranked 3rd in Wales in his age group. Alfie as also had a stellar season in the 1500m too and is ranked in the top 10 for his age group.

The London Mini Marathon takes place on the Saturday 1st October before the London Marathon on 2nd October and covers the last 2.6km of the course and finishing on the Mall and the athletes will be the first to cross the finish line before the elite athletes cross the finish line.

Over the years the Mini London Marathon has launched the careers of international athletics stars including Laura Muir, Keely Hodgkinson and Josh Kerr – not to mention Sir Mo Farah, who won the Mini Marathon three times.

Paralympic medallists Hannah Cockroft and Kare Adenegan are also both former winners of the Mini Marathon, along with Paralympic gold medallist David Weir – who has won the London Marathon a record eight times – and two-time London Marathon winner Shelly Woods.

Following this great tradition, the 2022 TCS Mini London Marathon championships will be a brilliant chance for young athletes to compete among the best new talent in British road racing.
