North Wales Cross Country League 1 Round Up
Phew! What a day last saturday 4th October was ?? ???? ???? ????? ?? ???? ! The first race of the cross country season arrived with some challenging weather conditions, courtesy of storm Amy! With the green light given after a course safety check this morning, the junior races kicked off at 10.30 with a fabulously full morning of running in 50+mph gusts and heavy rain! This did not deter our young athletes though and we had a record number of 34 junior athletes from the U11-U15 age groups pitching themselves against the elements and the rolling hills of the Clwydian countryside. Quite honestly, they all deserve a medal for tenacity, strength, team spirit and valour as those winds blowing down the uphill finish were difficult to stand up in, let alone run!!! Absolutely well done to you all ????????????. There will be results over the next few days and we will post them up here very soon ????

In the afternoon, the U17’s and seniors ran in somewhat calmer conditions although the wind did still continue to blow down the uphill section to the finish and the route was quite muddy and slippy after the morning’s downpours. We had a total number of 16 running in the afternoon which again is a great achievement! 50 athletes in total - that is fantastic!

As well as our amazing athletes, hats off to all the organisers, marshalls, parents and families who were out on the course today, the weather didn’t allow for appreciation of just how beautiful the course was although those hills certainly tested the legs! Diolch pawb ????????????

Round 2 of the North Wales cross country league takes place on Saturday 25th October at EIRIAS PARK, Colwyn Bay! So we will see you there
