Weekly Round Up 5th - 11th May
Weekend round up….

Before we launch into the main event of the weekend, firstly, a huge well done to a couple of our athletes who have been busy during the week; Enya continues to dominate the u12 girls Tuesday evening fell races finishing as first girl once again at this week’s Moel Lus race????????, while Seth completely annihilated his 5k PB at Christleton running a superb time of 17.11 ????????????.

Saturday then saw the North Wales Regional Champs at Bangor where we had a whopping 37 athletes in action - including two fabulous first time performances from Isaiah and Freya. To be fair, we had orange vests popping up in just about every event, with all the running distances covered, hurdles, jumps and throws. The amazing team spirit of Colwyn Bay AC is second to none ????????????????. It was non stop cheering all day from the Colwyn Bay quarter as not only did we comes back with a raft of championship medals and PB’s, but the level of pride should be through the roof as every single individual performance represented a huge personal accomplishment - well done to you all ????????????

Hats off to the (extremely proud) coaches who were there on the day to help out with the athletes - a special mention goes to Tony and Jordan who also managed to squeeze in a few events of their own and come away with their own haul of medals. A super special mention to Jordan who also managed to achieve a North Wales Championship record in the triple jump ????????

Grateful thanks also has to go the organisers and officials on the day; big shout out to our John on photo finish, Linda who was officiating field events with help from Aaron and Chris E on long jump, Shee who was track judging and Crispin who sits on the North Wales regional council and has worked tirelessly with Welsh Athletics to make yesterday’s event happen ????.

Next year sees the 50th year since the formation of Colwyn Bay AC and we hope our celebrations include a full event of our own at Eirias. In order to make this happen we do need a quota of trained officials; timekeepers, track and field judges and we will be asking for your help with this over the year ahead. It’s a small commitment with big rewards…we will be on the lookout for interested volunteers ????
