Welsh Inter Regional Cross Country
30/11/25

On Saturday saw the Welsh Inter-regional cross country championships in Newtown, Powys where teams selected from the cream of the crop from North, South, East and West of Wales all come together for a fantastic day of racing. The day also featured races for primary school years 3,4,5 & 6 hosted by Urdd Gobaith Cymru.
In the primary year races, there was a huge stampede of athletes from schools across Wales. We saw superb running from Ellis, Ffion, Asha and Maddie. An incredible race from Maddie saw her nail a huge victory in the years 5&6 girls race to claim a GOLD medal
.
After the excitement of the mornings primary races, the focus then turned to the Welsh Atheltics inter-regional championships;
For the under 13 girls, we had Lois (7th) and Liv (48th) running for the North Wales team. The North Wales girls claimed the bronze team place
For the under 13 boys, we had Mathew (31st), Ifan (33rd) and Theo (36th) helping the team to a silver
team place
For the under 15 girls we had Annabella (28th), Elin (38th), Caitlin (45th) and Aneia (47th) helping the u15g team to a silver team medal
.
For the under 15 boys, Thomas came in a fantastic 17th place. Unfortunately the under 15 boys team did not have enough athletes to make a full team today although all ran brilliantly
For the under 17 ladies we had Casi finishing in a great 23rd position, again, unfortunately the North Wales u17 ladies were missing the required number to make a full team.
For the under 17 men, we had James (13th), Ruben (23rd) and Seth (26th) racing for the North Wales team and helping gain a fantastic gold
team medal.
Ciara ran for the North Wales u20 ladies, finishing in 9th place and helping her team to a gold
team medal.
Becky ran for the senior ladies w45 age group finishing in 32nd place and securing a bronze medal for her age group team.
Absolutely huge well done to you all
Just as a heads up, the next opportunity to represent North Wales will be at the British inter counties cross country champs in mid March
